Associate Software Engineer, Simulation Infrastructure

Mission Summary

We are seeking an Associate Engineer to join our Simulation Infrastructure & Release team to aid us in advancing our offboard testing pipeline to be thorough, efficient and reliable. As an Engineer, you will gain hands-on experience with simulation cloud infrastructure, local hardware infrastructure and simulated scenarios with our AV software. You will be writing automation to simplify the testing simulation test process, writing and evaluating simulations, interfacing with hardware testing and improving our AV software release process. Your work will interface with both infrastructure and autonomy teams’ code and needs, giving you a wide view of everything it takes to autonomously drive a vehicle.

What you'll be doing:

• You will contribute to Motional’s driverless future by ensuring offboard testing and simulations are accessible to all 
• You will help the team ensure offboard testing is as representative as possible
• You will work on infrastructure that supports cloud (SIL) and hardware in the loop (HIL) simulations
• Your team is at the forefront of the industry ensuring safe and reliable software releases to the public roads
• You will work across the organization in Autonomy and Infrastructure to ensure all customer needs are met within our offboard simulation and testing environments

What we're looking for:

• 1 Year of writing Python
• 1 Year of data analysis & interfacing with databases, example SQL, Postgres, Trino
• Experience working with C++
• Experience working in Linux
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience working in cross-functional development teams, including quarterly road map design
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics (with Software option)

Bonus points (not required):

• Familiarity with Applied Intuition Simulation product line
• Familiarity OSC2 and YAML Simulation Scenarios
• Familiarity or experience with Vehicle CAN and interfacing within Python automation
• Familiarity with networking, routing, VPNs, VPCs
• Experience building and debugging Docker containers
• Experience with JIRA for project management
• Experience with Google Gemini and other AI
• Electrical familiarity for HIL bench connections and setup

Working Conditions:

• Hybrid role base in Las Vegas, NV: Flexible working locations requiring some on-site HIL work and cross-team collaborations. 
• Working directly on HIL equipment requires knowledge of basic electrical systems & safety
