Program Manager Job Description – AI Sherpa
RS21 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Manager to help stand up and operate an Artificial Intelligence Cetner of Excellence (AICOE), which will serve as the central hub for AI initiatives to support efficient operations for our client. The Program Manager will be part of a team that will establish the framework to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the AICOE, help the workforce leverage AI/ML capabilities, and enable our client to optimize operations, enhance decision-making, and improve day-to-day processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional project management skills, and a passion for AI technologies.
This is a hybrid role with expectations for regular work from our client’s offices in Los Alamos, NM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership:
- Manage the overall program and project management activities to ensure timely and effective communication and execution.
- Oversee and coordinate the development and maintenance of program charters, project plans, schedules, risk and issue logs, and mitigation strategies.
- Implement a continuous improvement protocol to regularly assess and optimize the effectiveness of AI projects and initiatives.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive program roadmap, outlining key milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define program objectives, success metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Project Management:
- Oversee multiple projects within the AICOE ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Utilize project management methodologies to plan, execute, and monitor project activities, including resource allocation, risk management, and issue resolution.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Develop training plans, resource and capability plans, and best practices documentation.
- Conduct stakeholder meetings, presentations, and workshops to promote the adoption and integration of AI technologies.
- Act as a liaison with compliance and security teams to ensure that all AI initiatives adhere to client’s rigorous standards and evolving regulatory requirements.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track and analyze program performance, using data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous optimization.
- Prepare detailed reports and dashboards to communicate program progress, challenges, and successes to stakeholders.
- Implement feedback mechanisms to capture and incorporate lessons learned into future program iterations.
- Technical Expertise:
- Stay current with the latest advancements in AI technologies, tools, and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed.
- Evaluate and recommend AI tools, platforms, and frameworks that align with program objectives and organizational needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in program and project management, with a focus on technology-driven initiatives.
- Strong understanding of AI technologies, machine learning frameworks, and data analytics.
- Understanding of data privacy, ethics, and regulatory considerations in AI.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex, multi-faceted programs and projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to Obtain a DOE Q-Clearance.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with agile and lean project management methodologies.
- PMP, PgMP, or similar project management certification is a plus.
- Experience in a national laboratory setting preferred.
