About the role

Position Summary

Our research team, co-led by Drs. Anubha Agarwal and Mark Huffman, is seeking outstanding candidates for a fully funded postdoctoral research fellowship focused on global cardiovascular implementation research in the Division of Cardiology and Department of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, United States.

This is a full-time position for an individual interested in expanding their qualitative and mixed-methods research skills and experience in the context of a series of NIH-funded global research studies related to fixed-dose combination therapies (or polypills) for cardiovascular disease including hypertension and heart failure.

The postdoctoral research fellowship will receive hands-on mentorship and supervision by Drs. Anubha Agarwal and Mark Huffman, in addition to opportunities to interact with other faculty in the Center for Global Health at Washington University in St. Louis and our global collaborators (The George Institute for Global Health in Australia, Centre for Chronic Disease Control in India, and RemediumOne in Sri Lanka). The fellow will be able to take full advantage of training, education, and mentorship opportunities offered through Washington University, including opportunities to travel to our global research sites. The candidate is expected to work in a highly collaborative, international, and fast-paced environment.

Funding is currently available for up to one year for this post-doctoral fellowship opportunity. There is a potential for funding a second year. The position is contingent upon performance.

Although a hybrid position is preferred with some in-person time at Washington University, a fully remote position will be considered for exceptional candidates.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

The focus of this postdoctoral research fellowship will be applying mixed methods implementation research (e.g., discrete choice experiments, qualitative analysis, etc.) to understand preferences and context that influence implementation outcomes in these ongoing studies in the United States and South Asia. The postdoctoral research fellowship is designed for the candidate to support and lead both analyses and scientific publications. Opportunities also exist to contribute to and learn project development, program implementation, grant and manuscript writing, and mentoring of students and staff.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (PhD and/or MD) in implementation science, global health, public health, health systems, health economics, or other discipline with focus on mixed methods research.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience conducting global cardiovascular implementation research.
  • Previous scientific publications in mixed methods research demonstrating strong writing skills.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment including willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Interest in mentoring and capacity building.
