Pharmacy Technician 3 - Fulltime Days

Inova Fairfax Hospital is seeking experienced Pharmacy Technician 3 to join our Pharmacy team. 

The Pharmacy Technician 3 manages drug preparation and distribution functions to ensure positive patient outcomes. Assumes responsibility for the maintenance and appearance of the Pharmacy environment including inventory, physical plant, and equipment. Assumes the staffing responsibilities of a Pharmacy Technician 2 to ensure smooth Pharmacy operations and schedules and oversees all Pharmacy Technicians, including their orientation and training. 

This is a full-time Monday-Friday shift varies, rotating weekend position.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs routine monitoring to ensure par levels are appropriate and shelves are clearly labelled.
• Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.  
• Ensures all documentation requirements for The Joint Commission are complete and accurate (i.e. controlled substance processes, unit inspections, cleaning logs, etc.).
• Accounts for control and distribution of controlled drugs in the Pharmacy.
• Procures and distributes medications per physician/pharmacist requests or prearranged work assignments according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Provides training and oversight for Pharmacy Technicians to ensure that all sterile preparation procedures, unit dose packaging, unit dose filling and Sure Med filling processes are being completed accurately and timely.

Qualifications:

 Experience:

• Two (2) years of experience working in a hospital as a Pharmacy Technician required.

Education:

• High School or GED.

Certifications:

• Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or Pharmacist Intern license 
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.
