New Student and Family Programs at the University of Central Florida is a critical unit to the success of new students and families at UCF. We provide a strong foundation for new students and their supporters to establish their unique pathways to student success and aim to lead the way in providing world-class onboarding experiences that build a culture of community, discovery, and innovation to enhance / maximize student success and well-being. Situated within Student Success and Well-Being (SSWB), NSFP oversees new student orientation for both FTIC (first time in college) and transfer students in addition to the Pegasus Parent Program, which includes Family Weekend.
The Opportunity:
New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) is seeking a Student Programs Coordinator II. This position develops, implements, facilitates, and evaluates various programs focused on assisting students in successfully integrating into the University environment. In addition, the position recruits, hires, and supervises student employees while providing quality opportunities to enrich the student experience and enhance the campus environment.
This position may be moved at management's discretion within the SSWB division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Success and Well-Being or his/her designee.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and mentor 35-40 Orientation Leaders, inclusive of all aspects of the employee life-cycle.
Plan, implement, and assess a comprehensive recruitment plan, including the recruitment, interviewing, selection, and hiring of a team of Orientation Leaders that supports Orientation Programs, Family Programs, University events, and other NSFP priorities on an ongoing basis.
Coordinate and implement the logistical needs related to Orientation programs, including but not limited to: script development, facilitation guides, staffing plans, on-site event management, stakeholder communication, reservation management, etc.
Create and manage staffing and payroll shifts, in coordination with Associate Director and other key stakeholders, to stay within Orientation Leader payroll budget, while ensuring programs are adequately staffed to meet student success, SSWB, and NSFP goals.
Support and provide ongoing training and development opportunities for Orientation Leaders, including but not limited to NACE Competencies (or other NSFP curricular priorities) and key job responsibilities.
Coordinate and implement a comprehensive assessment plan for Orientation Leaders, including annual and mid-year performance appraisals.
Support and participate in other NSFP, SSWB, and UCF initiatives, committees, and working groups; other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's with 2+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in the related field with 2+ years of post-grad experience.
Orientation program and/or large event planning experience.
Previous supervisory experience.
Prior Higher Education experience.
