Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
The Senior Financial Analyst, Operational Finance for Sports & Entertainment will report to the Senior Director, Operational Finance, Sports & Entertainment, and work as a part of the team responsible for financial oversight of Golf Channel, USA, E!, SYFY, and Oxygen. This role will support linear sports as well as the non-programming costs for the Entertainment networks, including the FP&A and Controllership processes throughout the year.
- Operational Finance:
- Support Golf Channel and Sports on USA financial tasks including contracts and rights management, underpinning reconciliation, and all internal finance processes (pacings/forecasts/close).
- Support leaders of Marketing, Digital, and Programming functions; coordinate across networks to prioritize spending and budget targets
- Consolidation and reporting of FP&A cycles:
- Produce consolidated P&L’s as needed for Sports and Entertainment leadership
- Work closely with Production Finance, Corporate, Allocators, and other Matrix Organizations to coordinate results
- Support both Operating Cash Flow and Free Cash Flow tracking for both actuals and forecasts.
- System submissions for Pacing, Budget, Long Range Plan, and other deliverables for Sports and Entertainment
- Perform ad hoc analyses as needed
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS Degree in finance/accounting or related field
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in finance/accounting
- Proficient in use of SAP/BW/BPC or similar accounting software
- Proficient in Windows environment; Advanced Excel skills
Desired Characteristics
- Knowledge and working experience using SAP, or similar accounting software
- Must be accurate, detail-oriented and efficient with ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills required
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment
- Solid Excel skills, including ability to create macros and complex models
- Exceptional work ethic and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Team player with a positive attitude. Role requires frequent collaboration with finance peers as well as counterparts in research, programming, scheduling, ad sales, marketing, etc.
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Subject to change based on Manager discussion or business need
