Field Service Engineer - Remote - San Diego, CA

The ideal candidate will be located in the San Diego, CA area.
What you will accomplish together with us:
Install, commission, calibrate, perform preventative maintenance, and conduct break/fix repairs on a range of Bioreactor systems.
Maintain fault-finding data and provide feedback on product performance to customers and internal Sartorius teams.
Follow all service procedures to ensure customer information and product software/configuration are current and accurate.
Keep precise records of time, expenses, and work performed.
Make independent decisions regarding the repair of field equipment based on service level agreements and customer support contract details.
Acquire and continually expand in-depth product knowledge.
Escalate unresolved system issues to the relevant Product Support Engineer, Customer Support Engineer, or Hardware Resource Coordinator.
Willingness to travel up to approximately 80%, primarily within the assigned territory.
What Will Convince Us:
Associate’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent military or trade school certificates in electronics/electrical technology.
Formal training/ certification in mechanical/electrical hardware setup and configuration. Field or building services engineering experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
2+ years’ experience in a commissioning/test or field service/support environment within a high-tech engineering/manufacturing company, ideally working on capital equipment.
2+ years' experience traveling as a Field Service Engineer.
Competence in measuring AC/DC voltages.
Experience with electrical, mechanical, and I/O fault-finding at system and component levels.
Proficiency in reading mechanical and electrical schematics and drawings.
Working knowledge of software and firmware installation, updates, and testing.
Hands-on experience with, motors, pneumatics, and electromechanical assemblies.
Proficiency in MS Office and computer literacy.
Willing to travel locally 90% and nationally 25%
We Value:
BA/BS or Master's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent military or trade school certificates in electronics/electrical technology.
Calibration of control systems, e.g., temperature and/or volume.
Knowledge of clean room protocols, drug discovery, process development, cell culture technologies and GMP environments.
Understanding of automatic mechanisms and their associated electrical control systems.
Ability to effectively train customers on best practices in using our products and maintain strong customer relationships.
Understanding of both Mammalian and Microbial cell cultures.
Familiarity with Bioreactors and their use in growing cell cultures.
Experience configuring PCs and installing software packages (Windows OS).
Hands on experience with robotics, conveyor systems or the like, input/output modules, optical readers, etc.

Base salary offered for the position is between $85,000.00 and $100,000.00 depending upon experience.
