Job Details:
The Mercer Medicine clinic in Macon, Georgia is searching for a Registered Vascular Technologist in the Cardiology department.
Responsibilities:
The Cardiovascular Technologist performs diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac and peripheral vascular conditions. Working under the direction of a physician, this role includes operating specialized imaging equipment, preparing patients for procedures, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring accurate documentation. The technologist ensures patient safety, adheres to regulatory and accreditation standards, and contributes to the overall quality of cardiovascular care. The Cardiovascular Technologist may also conduct or assist in electrocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, pulmonary functions, lung capacity, and similar tests.
Qualifications:
An associate's degree in sonography, cardiovascular or vascular technology, or a related allied health field and two years of experience as a vascular technologist are required. State-licensed Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT or RCIS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or equivalent certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in cardiology.
Must have active listening skills during patient interactions.
Should be a skilled critical thinker who can monitor patients and observe nuanced changes.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Good verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic techniques.
Ability to stand frequently, walk, and use of hands to handle equipment.
Ability to lift or assist patients and maneuver equipment.
Comfortable working in clinical settings that may involve exposure to bodily fluids, bloodborne pathogens, medical waste, radiation, and other potentially hazardous materials, with appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to remain calm and focused during urgent or high pressure medical situations.
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform patient care duties and operate complex medical equipment safely and accurately.
