About the Role:
We are looking for software engineers who want to be part of a growing technology team. Help us redefine the storytelling experience at one of the largest media sites on the web. In this particular role, you'll work with the Barron's team alongside other Dow Jones products to bring our site to new levels of user engagement and technology optimisation. This role will report to the Sr Manager, Engineering.
You Will:
- Successfully collaborate with engineers across other Dow Jones products to understand and improve standards of code development for shared applications and services
- Learn about new technologies and be able to present pros and cons of adoption in terms of business value, scalability, maintainability, and project delivery performance
- Influence designers and product team to define goals that bring the most value to Barron's and aligns with the technical standards set
- Be able to prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
You Have:
- 2-4 years experience developing web applications as a full stack developer
- Proven understanding of Computer Science fundamentals including web development, service-oriented architecture, cloud computing, test driven development and domain driven design
- Strong understanding of Javascript and the best practices around the web
- Understanding of capabilities with HTML5 and DOM manipulation
- Advanced CSS Knowledge: Grid, Flexbox, Media Queries
- Fluency in Node.js
- Exposure to Docker, AWS or other cloud or container based application deployment a plus
- Experience with technologies: ExpressJs, React, Redis, NextJs, Terraform, Webpack
- Experience with market data, charts, and/or real time web updates via WebSockets etc. a plus
