New Patient Coordinator - University Cancer Specialists

University Physicians’ Association is seeking an experienced New Patient Coordinator at University Cancer Specialists.   The Ideal candidate for the New Patient Coordinator role would have prior administrative medical experience, a customer service attitude, and a team player mindset.

Job Type: Full-time, Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm

New Patient Coordinator Duties:

• Monitor incoming referrals by fax, email, and telephone
• Input accurate information into our EMR system for new and existing patients
• Regularly communicate with our physicians, nurse practitioners, RNs, patients, and referring offices
• Handle sensitive information and abide by HIPAA rules
• Ensure all necessary paperwork is collected and verified
• Understand the practices policies and accepted insurances
• Contact referring offices to gather missing or undocumented information
• Contact referred patient to gather missing information
• Create appointments in scheduling book and notify patient/referring office
• Keep detailed log of all incoming referrals
• Assist with answering incoming phone calls when phone operators are out or on another line
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be reliable and have excellent follow up skills
• Must communicate professionally always
• Must be customer service oriented
• Must have the ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a Medical Office setting preferred
• Familiarity with medical terminology
• Must be a self-starter and a team player
• EXCELLENT telephone etiquette
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills
• Empathetic with good listening skills
• Ability to arrive on time for scheduled shifts
