What you will do on a typical day:
- Under the direction of a mentor, perform routine maintenance functions and adjustments on diesel buses/motorcoach, in compliance with the manufacturers and company schedules.
- Under supervision, access any area of the equipmentequipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance, including inspecting and performing work in, on or under parts of vehicles and buses.
- Apply knowledge and work in accordance with DOT, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Interstate Authority, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other rules and regulations as required.
- Repair or rebuild all or part of equipment systems.
- Conduct safety inspections of buses and prepare safety documentation.
What you need to succeed at Jefferson Lines:
At a minimum, you will need:
- 1 year of experience in general heavy truck repair, automotive repair, or equipment repair; equivalent trade school/technical school time may be applied toward this requirement.
- Pre employment drug screen, including marijuana (THC)
- A valid driver’s license with a desire to obtain a CDL
- Successfully complete a background check
- Your own technician hand tools required for repairs and maintenance.
- Basic computer skills
It would be great if you also have:
- Previous or current ASE certifications
- Basic computer skills
- Experience with diagnostics and related software programs
- Prior bus experience
- Willingness to learn and listen
- Great attention to detail
- Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to analyze situations and diagnose problems
- Capable of adapting to non-standardized situations using sound judgment
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for extended periods
- Use hands and fingers to handle or operate tools and controls
- Reach with arms and hands
- Lift up to 100lbs
- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Walk, climb, or balance (occasional)
- Talk and hear during communication or diagnostic work (occasional)
