About the role: 

The Microsoft HoloLens Display team is currently looking for a Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer. The teams mission is to design world class and inventive AR devices for use in next generation military and first responder market segments.    In this role the primary responsibilities will include working with a team of Optical Engineers and scientists to develop and build robust see-thru optical AR glasses. The candidate must be experienced in volume opto-mechanics design and process development.   

 

This role requires ability to work and collaborate on-site at our labs in Redmond, WA.

Responsibilities

  • Developing complex display systems that integrate mechanical and optical components.   
  • Translating optical requirements and sensitivities into mechanical requirements. 
  • Equipment, process flow, and supply chain development. 
  • Collaboration with partner teams (especially Optics Engineering, ID (industrial design), sensors, and other Mechanical Engineers) to design and integrate subsystems. 
  • Develop and evaluate opto-mechanical designs with considerations of tolerance and stability over environmental storage/operation ranges and reliability requirements. 
  • Resolving reliability failures through test and analysis. 
  • Driving definition of mechanical calibration procedures for various assembly and test stations. 
  • Building and execution of test plans to understand and resolve yield, performance, and reliability issues. 

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

 

· Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Science, Optical Engineering or related field AND 4+ years related technical engineering experience such as mechanical engineering design

o OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Science, Optical Engineering or related fiel
