Overview:  

The Manager, Logistics Optimization will drive the optimization of Corning’s logistics, distribution, & transportation activities, with primary focus on improving efficiency and effectiveness within a warehouse environment.  This role involves streamlining operation flows, optimizing utilization, managing inventory, and reducing costs. This person will be responsible for driving process improvement & cost optimization across Corning businesses while standardizing to Corning best practices.  This position requires excellent leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead strategic change in a cross-functional environment.  A self-motivated and driven individual who has the ability to work with ambiguity and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

 

Responsibilities: 

• Warehouse and Transportation Optimization: Lead efforts to optimize Corning’s warehouse footprint, transportation flows and processes.
• Operational Cost Efficiency: Identify opportunities to reduce cost-to-serve through process improvements/optimization.
• Logistics Initiatives: Proactively lead logistics initiatives and projects in areas of expertise (i.e. analysis, identification, and implementation) 
• Performance Goals: Deliver savings, productivity enhancement and performance levels that ensure warehousing and transportation improvement objectives are met.
• Operational Excellence: Identify and assist in driving logistics operational excellence to improve work processes, layout design, and tools; refining performance and business continuity.
• Metrics & KPI’s: Develop metrics & key performance indicators to measure warehouse space utilization, labor efficiency, cost optimization and transportation performance.
• Network Optimization: Support the optimization of logistical networks in the region while partnering with the businesses.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ensure the cross collaboration between key functions, internal and external customers and suppliers.

 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree in industrial engineering, supply chain, engineering or relevant field
• Minimum of 5 years' work experience involved in operational improvements in a manufacturing or warehousing environment
• Proficiency in Excel, SAP, ERP systems and/or other relevant rools.
• Project management experience
• Strong organizational and communication skills
