About the role

Job Description

The Position

The role reports to the Director of North America Supply Chain Operations and leads Trade Compliance related activities for the US and Canadian markets. This role will serve as the subject matter expert for regional trade compliance and will primarily focus on developing, implementing and maintaining trade compliance programs that ensure adherence to regulations while guiding Logistics Operations to execute with speed and conformance. The candidate will leverage knowledge of Customs valuations, origin determination, HTS classification and related areas to guide Operations. The role may also serve as a designated representative for state licensing.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable foreign trade regulations for existing products, new launches, legal entity integrations, network changes, etc.

  • Partner with Operations Leads and External Manufacturing partners to develop optimal strategies for success.

  • Partner with Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders and Operations Leads to measure performance and drive improvement.

  • Identify trade compliance risks and develop mitigation plans.

  • Provide guidance and training internally on relevant trade regulations and internal trade compliance policies for US and Canada Logistics teams.

  • Support region in audits relating to customs activities to ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.

  • Keep abreast of new regulation and programs that may impact business and communicate these to stakeholders to take appropriate actions.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required plus a minimum of three years of pharmaceutical trade compliance related experience is required.

  • Ability and knowledge to act as subject matter export for trade compliance.

  • Supply chain experience and proficiency in SAP.

  • Ability to work in cross functional teams to solve complex, high stakes problems.

  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot issues.

  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision, perform well in a dynamic environment and handle several tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to influence others without direct authority.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

  • Licensed customs broker a plus.

  • Supply chain certifications.

  • More than five years of pharmaceutical trade compliance experience.

  • Degree in Pharmacy (Pharm D.) a plus.

The role must be primarily based in Jersey City, NJ office with accessibility to the Plymouth Meeting, PA office, as needed. The position is hybrid with three days on-site per week, Monday – Thursday, with Friday as a designated remote-working day.
