Job Description:

Our Clifton Park, NY (Albany area) office is seeking a temporary full-time intern with a Civil Engineering background and a Water Resource Engineering focus. The emphasis for this position is broadening the intern’s practical knowledge and experience by applying professional principles to real problems under the supervision of senior engineering personnel. The position will be held from May through August of 2025.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform hydrologic evaluations, such as peak flow analysis for watersheds.
  • Perform hydraulic analysis, including dam breach simulations.
  • Write reports, develop calculation packages, and prepare construction plans.
  • Some travel may be required, such as performing site visits, dam inspections, and construction observation.
  • As needed, the individual may also support project efforts in other civil engineering fields including geotechnical investigations and analyses.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program.
  • Completed coursework in fluid mechanics, open channel flow, hydrology, or similar water resource topics.
  • Junior, senior, and graduate students only.
  • Experience using HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ArcGIS, and CAD is a plus. 
  • Possess good interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with direction as part of a team.
  • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
  • Desire and willingness to work outdoors.
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Prior professional work or summer intern work in a related field is desirable but not required.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment screening.

The compensation range for a Civil Engineering Intern is between $17.00 to $24.20. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
