Job Description:The Community Assistant within the Housing and Residence Life team is responsible for:
- Enhancing and maintaining a sense of shared community in the designated residential area by facilitating intentional interactions, social activities, and other opportunities for residents and their families to interact with each other
- Assisting residents in the assigned residential area acting as a referral agent to available resources, services, and facilities on campus
- Planning and implementing social, educational and recreational programs collaborating with university partners as needed
- Serving as the first point of contact for current or prospective residents, families, and community members providing information on campus resources and resolving questions or concerns
- Assisting in conflict resolution among residents by educating residents about housing policies and the conduct process
- Fostering a culture of continuous care by serving in an on-call role and supporting our students through effective emergency management procedures
- Serving as a model of responsible behavior to assist residents throughout their UF student experience
- Creating a residential environment that fosters a sense of belonging and encourages residents to utilize departmental and campus resources
A stipend in the amount of $11,100 for a 12-month appointment.
Minimum Requirements:- This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
- This position is open to all students and requires them to live on-campus as a resident in the Village they serve.
- Individuals committed to facilitating interaction among students, faculty, and staff representative of UF’s vibrant community
- Successful candidates will have a minimum one semester experience at the University of Florida in Gainesville
- Demonstrated experience with customer service
- Ability to critically analyze situations and actively problem solve
- Ability to work well within a team and with individuals to build positive relationships
- Demonstrated dependability, attention to detail, timeliness, and professionalism
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written communication)
