General Description and Classification Standards 

Manages the internal auditing function for assigned department(s). This is full-time administrative work to ensure results of audits to management and regulatory compliance agencies, as applicable. Manages the billing review for commercial, multi-unit accounts, Monitors and reviews adjustments applied, and refunds issued based on guidelines outlined in our city ordinances. Identify root causes for billing discrepancies and reports all discrepancies found. Trains AMG staff on policy for adjustments and bill editing. Perform internal audits and risk assessments within established business process controls. Works with management in defined areas to define the audit function as it relates to overall business activities. Will manage department Service Level Agreements (SLA).  Monitors internal processes, interprets and applies organizational policies and provides input into policy and strategy development/revision. Manages purchasing, inventory, equipment maintenance and other asset related functions and approves purchase/supply orders, expense accounts.

Selects from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks. May make purchasing or resource allocation decisions within organization guidelines. Applies organizational policies. Leadership skills used to assist management with daily task and monitoring workflow and policy according to city ordinances and department practices. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. Knowledge of concepts, processes, and tools of financial auditing. Knowledge of relationship of professional disciplines among related organizations and functions. Some knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP guidelines. Strong knowledge in utility accounting and work order analysis. Leadership and motivational skills. Skill in identifying operating issues and developing solutions. Strong MS Office, accounting software, databases. Ability to apply experience and professional knowledge to carry out most assignments in professional area. Ability to apply general knowledge across organization or discipline lines. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education (High School) and at least 5 years accounting or billing experience and or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
