You will be a core member architecting and building a platform for unlocking credit opportunities to SMBs. There are many opportunities to share your skills with other engineers while learning about many of the great technologies utilized at BILL.
We are seeking a strong, passionate engineer to join our team. In this role, you will enhance our platform and unlock credit to our customers which is critical to the livelihood of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), while also increasing revenue growth.
We’d love to chat if you have:
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field
- 8+ years of software development experience
- Experience working on large scale, complex applications using Java or Elixir
- Excellent teamwork and communication and ability to gain alignment across cross-functional boundaries
- Ability to challenge the norm and maturity to advocate for changes for the greater benefit of the business
- Passion for great products and building great experiences, proven ability to take the product through all stages of development from concept to launch at scale
- Strong understanding of engineering, product, and design interoperation and communication
- Expertise in building and maintaining large-scale, high-volume, high-availability, low-latency systems.
- Strong understanding of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in credit risk, preferably business credit risk.
- Proficiency in version control, code reviews, testing, and deployment automation.
- Ability to mentor and guide other engineers in best practices and advanced technical concepts.
- Familiarity with machine learning model integration and data pipeline design.
- Strong understanding of engineering, product, and design interoperation and communication
- Test-driven development mindset and pride in code resilience
- Collaborative, high-trust approach to team building and collaboration
- Proficiency with monitoring, alerting, and reporting tools
- Cross-team collaboration with extreme ownership mindset
- Hands-on experience with GraphQL
- Experience architecting large scale, high volume, high availability services
- Passion for leading technical discussions and mentoring other engineers
- Experience with Elixir, Ecto and Phoenix
- Experience with event sourcing, Kafka and Flink is nice to have
- Experience in more advanced or cutting-edge technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Serverless Architectures, AI/ML frameworks, Advanced Cloud Services).
- Experience in designing and implementing microservices architecture and containerization technologies like Docker.
- Experience in complex problem-solving in large-scale distributed systems, performance optimization, and high-availability systems.

The estimated salary range for this role is noted below for our San Jose based role. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.
