JOB SUMMARY:
The Computed Tomography Technologist (CT Technologist) is a highly skilled professional, who is confident in producing multiplane images for interpretation by the radiologist. The CT Technologist operates specialized computerized x-ray equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' human anatomy which aid the radiologist in the diagnosis of a wide variety of diseases and disorders. The CT Technologist will be knowledgeable with the CT scanner and understand how to manipulate scans to accommodate for patients’ size, motion and to reduce any undesirable artifacts. All CT Technologists will follow departmental policy and procedures in regards to ALARA, possible pregnancy, and scanning protocols as directed by the radiologist. Taking stand-by may be a necessary responsibility according to hospital needs. Consistently applying our CARES standard when interacting with patients, families and coworkers. The CT technologist will hold a current license as a Certified Radiologic Technologist and has the ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Formal training and completion of a two year approved School of Radiologic Technology.
EXPERIENCE
At least 1 year of experience preferred.
PREREQUISITE SKILLS
- The CT Technologist must demonstrate an understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology.
- The CT Technologist must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques.
- The CT Technologists are the primary liaison between patients and radiologists and other members of the support team.
- The CT Technologists use professional and ethical judgement and critical thinking when performing their duties.
LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Current California Certified Radiological Technologist License (CRT)
- Current Computerized Tomography License/or wit
