About the role

Strategy Manager working directly with the Board of Directors and Executive Management
GlobalConnect, Copenhagen

Opportunity to join GlobalConnect, one of the fastest growing companies in Nordic Digital Infrastructure space, in a unique role that combines strategy, M&A and Board support.

In the role you will be part of the Strategy and M&A team but spend a good part of your time working directly with preparing and running the Board of Director’s meetings together with the executive management team and our owners.

About the team and organization

GlobalConnect, backed by EQT, is working with an ambitious growth strategy to further expand and solidify our fiber and datacenter network of more than 240,000 km built over the last 25 years.

The Strategy and M&A team works closely to support the realization of these ambitions. The work receives significant attention from the organization and requires you to enjoy working in an environment with a high pace and high-quality expectations. Despite our ambitions we enjoy an informal working environment with a large focus on personal development and room for personality and private time outside work.

You will join a strong team of highly dedicated and talented employees with a top-tier consulting or finance background. The team reports to the Head of Strategy and M&A and is placed centrally in the organization.

With GlobalConnect present in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Germany and with employees from many nationalities you will be working in a multi-national environment where we will make you feel welcome and be fully engaged in your successful transitioning into your new role and our company.

About the role and responsibilities

As a strategy manager your work will mix a number of business-critical topics and allow you to work together with all the different layers of the organization to help us achieve our ambitions. In addition to the role as a strategy manager you will also have the role of Board Secretary working directly with Executive Management and the Board of Directors. If you thrive on responsibility, enjoy operating at a strategic level, and have a strong sense of structure - then this could be the opportunity for you.

More specifically the role will cover the following tasks:

  • Prepare the Board of Directors meetings, agendas and material together with our executive team two weeks every quarter.
  • Participate in ~6 board meetings annually, ensuring that decisions, action points, and key discussions are documented and followed up with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead and support projects run by the Strategy and Corporate M&A team to:
    • Evolve our market position and portfolio strategy
    • Form a perspective on topics and trends of strategic importance
    • Propose measures to stay on track with our five-year strategic plan
    • Ensure our strategy is fully understood by the ~1850 people in our company
  • Participate in M&A initiatives including pre-DD, DD and post-merger integration work
  • Regularly interacting with people across our business to compile reporting on progress in fulfilling the long-term strategic plan, and identify root causes of deviation from the plan

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a team player that combines strategic thinking with a detail-oriented mindset and who can play a key role in ensuring that all board operations run smoothly and professionally. This includes preparing meeting agendas, coordinating materials, and supporting the executive management team.

To thrive in this role, we believe:

  • You have a strong track record of delivering strategy and analytical tasks of high quality from a top tier management consultancy, M&A advisory or a corporate strategy function. Ideally, you should also have experience with financial analysis and modelling.
  • You are self-motivated with a high drive, you take accountability and execute efficiently. You are comfortable working with colleagues from across the organization, including presenting and problem-solving to senior stakeholders.
  • You enjoy working in a team and have proven that you can execute specific analyses and other tasks with the support of team members.
  • You have a relevant academic degree at Master level and around 2-5 years of experience. You are a strong communicator in English. If you speak Danish, Swedish, Finnish, German or Norwegian that would be a plus. You are an advanced user of Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

If you’re excited about this opportunity but don’t meet every single requirement, don’t worry! We’d still love to hear from you.
