The Position:
The Vice President, Indirect Procurement Strategic Sourcing is responsible for leading the end-to-end strategic sourcing function for all indirect spend categories across the organization. This role drives significant cost savings, supplier innovation, and risk mitigation through best-in-class sourcing strategies, while building and managing a high-performing team of procurement professionals. The VP will serve as a key business partner to cross-functional stakeholders and will play a critical role in shaping and executing the company's broader procurement transformation agenda.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Define and execute the multi-year indirect procurement strategy aligned with corporate objectives and financial targets.
- Establish category management frameworks, sourcing playbooks, and procurement policies to drive consistency and excellence across the function.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and thought leader to senior leadership on procurement trends, market intelligence, and supplier innovation.
- Drive continuous improvement and transformation initiatives, leveraging technology, analytics, and process optimization to modernize the procurement function.
Indirect Category Management
- Oversee strategic sourcing across key indirect spend categories including but not limited to: IT, Professional Services, HR/Benefits, and Contingent Labor.
- Lead complex, high-value RFx processes, negotiations, and contract executions to deliver best-in-class commercial outcomes.
- Develop and manage category strategies that optimize total cost of ownership (TCO), mitigate supply risk, and drive supplier innovation.
- Monitor category market dynamics, benchmark spend performance, and identify new opportunities for value creation.
Procurement Sourcing & Commercial Execution
- Lead and oversee the end-to-end source-to-contract lifecycle across all indirect categories, including:
- Category market intelligence and supplier ecosystem strategy
- Supplier segmentation, sourcing strategy design, and capacity planning
- RFP/RFQ execution and complex, high-value commercial negotiations
- Contract structuring, execution, and full lifecycle governance
- Develop and approve should-cost models, total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses, and competitive benchmarks to evaluate pricing, commercial terms, and sourcing strategies relative to industry peers.
- Hold authority for critical commercial decisions, including entering contracts, negotiating terms, signing agreements, and committing capital on behalf of the organization.
- Set commercial strategy for long-term supplier agreements, preferred vendor programs, and strategic partnerships with critical indirect suppliers.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, lead, mentor, and develop a team of direct reports including Category Directors, Sourcing Managers, and Procurement Buyers.
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and create individual development plans to build organizational capability.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the procurement team.
- Manage team capacity, workload allocation, and succession planning to ensure operational resilience and talent pipeline development.
- Own succession planning and talent development to build a resilient, scalable procurement organization that grows alongside the business.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, driving performance management, innovation, and long-term partnership value.
