Summary

  • Participates in the coordination, support and maintenance necessary to ensure the proper and effective functioning of Business Systems.
  • With general direction, performs development, analysis, planning, administration, and communication of a broad range of business unit systems, programs, policies and practices.
  • Functions as a business unit analytical specialist for system security, reporting, intranet web pages and other areas as defined.
  • Works with other department functions to identify, plan and implement solutions that will maximize organizational effectiveness through the use of technology.
  • Maintains and generates a variety of functional area reports and statistical summaries.
  • Provides support in the development and maintenance of standardized reporting protocol to ensure data integrity and consistency.
  • Formulates and defines business processes, systems scope and objectives through research and fact finding combined with a good understanding of business functions, systems and industry requirements.
  • For larger scoped projects, may work in conjunction with more senior personnel.
  • Partner with Information Services and/or lead small scope projects involving process/system improvements and special technology needs.
  • May participate and contribute to projects that have moderate or complex scope and budget.
  • This position requires a good understanding of business operations, processes, and business unit(s) systems utilized within the organization.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS/BA equivalency or an equivalent combination of four years relevant business work experience and relevant college coursework in business, information technology or a related area.
  • An additional two (2) years of progressively responsible experience where general knowledge and understanding of business unit business systems, basic knowledge of database design, structure, functions and processes and experience with database tools is obtained.
  • General understanding of business unit and operational knowledge including functions, procedures, processes, and computer systems.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and tie functional needs to technology solutions.
  • Some project/team experience and ability to prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability to review data, identify issues, and see relationships and patterns.
  • Experience participating in projects and identifying and resolving issues is preferred.
  • Proficient in PC applications including advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Basic knowledge of emerging practices and technologies used within the area.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good customer service, organizational, and analytical skills and demonstrated ability to manage customer expectations.
  • Some knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and standards impacting business unit business areas.

Major Accountabilities

1) With general direction, provides support for business unit business systems including, but not limited to, researching and resolving problems, system setup and maintenance, and data integrity audits.
2) Researches and analyzes routine to moderate business/operations problems related to systems utilized within the business unit.
3) Interfaces with Information Services or vendors to resolve issues as necessary.
4) Follows up with resolution of problems to ensure timely response and customer satisfaction.
5) With general direction, participates in the analysis and recommendation, installation and maintenance of new and enhancement of existing systems.
6) Ability to gather and write routine to moderate in scope business and functional requirements and identify future business system needs.
