The opportunity

 

The Collection Analyst I will oversee complex collection activities, drive process improvements, and manage strategic customer accounts. In this role, you will function as a key contributor to reducing aged receivables, improving cash flow, and supporting company financial goals. In addition, they will lead high-level account resolution and collaborate across departments to streamline collection operations.

How you’ll spend your day

 

  • Lead collection efforts through analytics, initiative-taking outreach, and strategic follow-up.
  • Manage a portfolio of high-volume or high value, National accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve escalated issues including billing disputes and credit concerns.
  • Work to resolve unapplied and unidentified funds.
  • Develop and implement collection strategies to reduce overdue balances and improve cash flow.
  • Resolve complex billing/payment disputes to ensure a timely resolution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for cross-functional initiatives involving sales, legal, and customer service.
  • Mentor and support junior Collection Analysts with training, best practices, and issue resolution.
  • Assist with order release/hold based on account analysis.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements and automation solutions.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements related to AR and collections.
  • Initiate refunds and make recommendations for write-offs and bad debt.

Your experience and qualifications

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that fulfills the position’s requirements will be considered.

 

Education/Certification/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable with a focus on B2B environments.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Proven history of managing large or complex accounts and improving collection KPIs.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with both internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Sales, cash app).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly shifts as required.
  • Pharmaceutical experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a large company environment. Public company experience is a plus.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills required (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables)
  • Experience with various accounting systems required (e.g., JDE, HighRadius, AS400).
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Not required.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for extended periods at a workstation or mobile equipment.

 

Visual Acuity:

  • Perform computer work, prepare and analyze data, and extensive reading.
