Position Summary

Purpose Financial is seeking a seasoned and strategic Director of Platform Engineering to lead and evaluate our platform engineering teams. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in architecting and managing scalable and innovative platforms, contributing to the technical vision of the company, and steering its platform engineering initiatives. Strong understanding of cloud environments and tools; including Snowflake, AWS, FiveTran, dbt, etc. Strong understanding of architecture design patterns and experience with building robust ingestion frameworks.

• Collaborate with executive leadership to align platform strategies with overall business objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of platform engineers.

• Define and drive the evolution of the company’s platform architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cutting-edge technology adoption.
• Champion innovation in platform engineering practices and technologies.
• Promote a culture of continuous integration, development, and delivery.
• Partner with IT and data to implement and optimize cloud services, network, and data storage.
• Drive initiatives to enhance infrastructure efficiency and reliability.
• Collaborate with security teams to ensure robust security measures are in place for all platforms.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

• Evaluate, negotiate, and manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers.
• Ensure cost-effective and reliable services that align with business goals.
• Collaborate with various departments, including product development, IT, and data teams to ensure seamless integration of platforms and technologies.
• Act as a technical leader and influencer across the organization.
• Implement and lead efforts related to monitoring tools, performance assessments, and optimization strategies.
• Drive initiatives to improve platform efficiency and responsiveness.

Education Required

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; master’s degree preferred.

Experience Required

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a leadership role within platform engineering or related field.
• Proven experience leading and managing high performance platform engineering teams.
• Strong technical proficiency in cloud technologies, infrastructure, and automation.
• Strong understanding of Cloud Architectures (e.g., cloud services, micro services, data analytics) for incorporating a combination of data services, technologies, and architectural patterns.
• Practical understanding of middleware, event streaming, and distributed systems.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, leadership, and communication skills.
