About the role

Overview

The Associate Director, Philanthropy will oversee the grant submission process; research and write private grant proposals; and assist with tracking, reporting, and grant stewardship. The incumbent will check for compliance issues, maintain the weighted pipeline proposal schedule, organize investor-driven grant opportunities, assist with strategy, support the stewardship of high-level donors, and support the solicitation process. This position will additionally draft correspondence, reconcile accounts, run reports, and present data as appropriate.

Responsibilities

1. Support yearly fundraising goals for the Foundation Relations program, including dollars generated, number of proposals submitted, amount in weighted pipeline, and other measurable objectives.2. Advance and steward portfolio of donors, including purposefully guiding foundations to make significant investments in Kennedy Krieger by communicating purposefully and hosting or visiting funders as necessary. 3. Develop written solicitation strategies and proposals in conjunction with department leadership and faculty and scientists. The submission process includes, but is not limited to, preparing budgets and ensuring compliance with internal and external rules and regulations.4. Solicit private foundations and related organizations to support Kennedy Krieger by matching the Institute’s fundraising priorities with prospective donors’ interests based on research utilizing databases such as Instrumentl and Foundation Center.5. Maintain accurate and timely records of all grant submissions, reports, and stewardship activities in Raiser’s Edge. Run regular reports about these activities from Raiser’s Edge for the team to utilize. 6. Maintain the weighted pipeline of proposals to meet yearly fundraising goals. 7. Oversee the Foundation Relations spring and fall solicitation process.8. Work with the Philanthropy Operations team and the Finance department to reconcile grant payments, close-out documented pledges, and acknowledge gifts. 9. Stay informed about trends and best practices in proposal development and actively bring innovative ideas to the Foundation Relations team.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Liberal Arts, or related field required. Five or more years of related experience in securing major grants and demonstrated ability to research and write favorable grant proposals may be substituted for the education requirement at the discretion of department leadership.

 

EXPERIENCE:• Minimum 3 years of experience in the non-profit sector with a particular focus on grant writing, reporting, and funder research required.• Experience securing government funding is desirable. • Raiser’s Edge experience is preferred.

USD $71,518.51/Yr.

Maximum pay range

USD $127,585.95/Yr.
