Primary Duties and Responsibilities

You will be responsible for general and various types of medical/patient care equipment.  This includes monitoring, diagnostic, therapeutic and life saving/support devices.  Repair, service, calibrate, install and perform preventive maintenance on a wide variety of patient care equipment.  The maintenance of these devices includes troubleshooting to component level and routine periodic inspections.  Complete acceptance inspections on new equipment and provide technical support to the Nursing staff and equipment operators.  Follow the departmental and Medical Center policies and procedures.  Assignment areas include Critical Care and Intensive Care units.  Conduct pre-purchase evaluations and installations of medical equipment.  Perform other related duties as required.  Provide on-call coverage.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a BMET II or 9 years of total biomedical equipment experience.
• Proficient in using electronic test equipment, including electrical safety analyzers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, pressure/vacuum gauges, and polarity/tension testers.
• Skilled in operating medical technology test equipment such as ECG, respiration, and temperature simulators; line isolation monitor testers; infusion pump analyzers; defibrillator and ESU testers.
• Ability to use standard hand tools and perform soldering and desoldering tasks.
• Able to read, interpret, and analyze electrical schematics, block diagrams, and technical test procedures for a wide range of medical devices.
• Knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuitry, including digital pressure testing.
• Able to prepare clear and accurate technical reports.
• Basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to use a personal computer to manage work orders, documentation, and reporting.
• Strong oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clinical staff, hospital personnel, and vendors.
• Skilled in efficient troubleshooting techniques across various types of medical equipment.
• Ability to maintain cooperative, professional working relationships across departments and levels of the organization.
• Experience conducting incident evaluations involving medical devices.
• Knowledge of Critical Care environments
