The Director, Federal Research, Development & Clinical Operations will integrate with, and share goals and priorities with, the global R&D, Clinical Strategy, Medical Education and Clinical Teams as well as US and Global Marketing. Through a high-level understanding of Federal Health funding and research pathways, along with methodologies utilized to develop clinical practice guidelines, product education and integration/acquisition. This position will work closely with the Director, Federal Health Operations and Senior Director, Military and Federal Health to ensure internal structure aligns with the Federal Health structure for R&D funding through acquisition and sustainment for seamless handoffs and reliable, timely results.
What will you be doing?
Strategic planning to facilitate pursuit of collaborative research, development and evidence creation opportunities in the DoD and VA, along with any academic partners they bring.
Advancement of SN priorities in conjunction with federal health priorities to envision and develop programs, pre-proposals/proposals, white papers, and other research communications that enhance the research/development/evidence development environment.
Tracking of research impacts, and support efforts to promote and maximize research impact internally and externally.
Liaise with DoD/other federal agencies and internal R&D capabilities; build and maintain relationships with relevant departments/individuals.
Identifies evidence gaps and collaborates with internal resources and federal resources for development of compelling evidence to meet defined needs. Oversee development of evidence messaging and launch by collaborating with relevant internal resources to include Training, Medical Education, and Sales.
Monitor postings for R&D opportunities and drive opportunities through internal teams.
Support launch of new products into federal markets to include collaboration for development of Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) and advanced project planning to transition from R&D to product launch.
Develop and manage innovative approaches to the clinical education strategy that aligns with customer capabilities and goals, to include webinars, symposia, evidence, social media and web site content, app concepts, and other tools and resources tailored to each market.
Oversees launch and sustainment of federal clinical education programs through an understanding of education and training requirements and methodologies in relevant markets.
Develop and maintain relationships with federal education leaders and other partnerships to achieve established goals.
What will you need to be successful?
PhD required with 10+ years of research development experience in DoD/other federal agency R&D.
Experience planning, organizing, and writing grant proposals.
Knowledge of current DoD/other federal agency research, development and/or evidence development priorities and methodologies.
5+ years of experience developing, leading and sustaining large scale clinical education programs in a large, diverse organization(s).
Deep understanding of and trusted professional relationships with key military health and/or other federal agency clients and stakeholders.
Familiarity with domains of key educational interest in the military health, including medical readiness, operational medicine, medical simulation, remote and automomous care delivery, etc.
Organizational experience and skills in implementing systems in a large, multi-department environment.
Superb organizational and interpersonal skills, professional writing and presentation abilities, and a strong interest in cutting edge medical technologies to bring teams together as needed for synergistic activities and projects.
Demonstrated success in using analytical, judgment and problem-solving skills to determine needs and arrive at consistently sound conclusions,
Passionate about improving health and well-being.
Ability to travel up to 60%.
