What you’ll do:
The Director of Editorial Operations reports to The Trade Desk’s Editor in Chief and manages the daily flow of content published on our editorial platforms, including The Current, The Resource Desk, and Edge Academy. The Director will ensure our content is produced, edited, and published to meet deadlines, maintain quality standards, and support strategic goals. In this role, you will develop and maintain the annual editorial budget and content calendar, ensuring our investments lead to impact. You will streamline our global operations as we scale an audience of highly engaged advertising executives in North America, Europe, and APAC. This is a cross-functional management role, so strong written and verbal communication and collaboration across teams is a must. A sharp understanding of advertising, media, and high-growth tech is a plus. The ideal candidate flourishes in roles that meld creative thinking and operational rigor. You will:
- Obsess about helping ad pros succeed amid rapid transformation.
- Lead a small team in developing global processes that help us scale gold-standard content across regions and platforms.
- Own the annual editorial planning cycle, working closely with leadership to develop the content calendar and budget.
- Closely maintain and update roadmaps and budgets, adjusting quickly when strategic needs change.
- Work with internal stakeholders to ensure operational alignment, including Brand, Product Marketing, Creative, Social Media, Client, and Legal teams.
- Guide content through our review process in a timely manner.
- Support several special projects a year, ranging from high-impact events to thematic digital content packages.
- Champion data-driven insights, track impact of content, and communicate results and recommendations up the chain.
- Serve as a trusted editorial eye, with a nose for news and an ear for clarity.
- Seek out resources to help our editors maximize creativity and efficiency; maintain strong vendor relationships and contracts.
Who you are:
- Skilled project manager with a proven ability to advance complex projects, demonstrating excellent prioritization and collaboration.
- Strong writer and editor with excellent storytelling prowess and a background in journalism, publishing, marketing, or creative strategy.
- Passionate about putting vision into action, creating processes that allow creative teams to operate with maximum artistry, agility, and impact.
- A savvy business partner who can influence and educate various teams, upholding processes and managing relationships.
- Keen budget and KPI manager, comfortable navigating Excel, Google Analytics, or similar dashboards.
- Someone with pro-level skills in digital content development, including web content and deck slide creation.
- A builder who likes to help teams/companies refine and scale.
- An adaptable professional with great executive presence, presentation skills, and the ability to work efficiently to deliver on aggressive goals.
