The Department of Medical Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University, Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (SKCCC), seeks highly qualified academic physicians in Hematology or Medical Oncology to join the Division of Hematologic Malignancies. Candidates must possess an M.D., or D.O. degree, must be BE/BE in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology, and be eligible for a medical license in Pennsylvania. 

Job Description

The ideal candidate will be an outstanding disease-focused academic physician at either the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus and some prior experience in clinical research in lymphoma as well as Transplant and Cellular Therapies (TCT’s), and potential to build a national reputation as an independent investigator and leader in clinical research. Experience in translational research is of additional interest, but not required. An interest in education and an early track record of mentoring of trainees are also welcome. There is also potential opportunity within this position for Leadership in the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (SKCCC) Clinical Trials Office (CTO) as Medical Director.

The Division of Hematologic Malignancies, based in center city Philadelphia, comprises faculty that are recognized for excellence in the triple mission of patient care, research and training. Every year, Division faculty and nurses provide complex multidisciplinary and personalized care to hundreds patients with all types of hematologic malignancies, including rare and highly complex blood cancers, attracting referrals nationally and internationally.

The Division is a national leader in the development of new therapies for blood cancers, with a pipeline of clinical trials that is managed by a disease-specific (Lymphoma, Myeloma, and Leukemia/MDS) and a modality-specific (BMT/CART) multidisciplinary disease group (MDG) and includes CART- and CAR-NK cell therapies, molecularly targeted therapies, and novel immunotherapies. The Division’s clinical trial portfolio is further enhanced by an outstanding Phase I program, in academic partnership with the Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), and a strong and innovative Health Delivery Research group.

The SKCCC is an NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center that includes researchers from Thomas Jefferson University and Drexel University and offers outstanding shared core facilities.
