ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (salary range - $52,195.36 - $61,167.00 annually):
SCOPE OF WORK: To educate students and develop curricula in advanced manufacturing, contributing to the goals and operations of the Center for Biofabrication and Advanced Manufacturing (CBAM). This position shall report to the Chairperson of the Department of Advanced Manufacturing.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Teaches a variety of courses and develops curricula in the areas of advanced manufacturing, including manufacturing technologies, automation, robotics, and related fields, with a focus on aligning academic programs with workforce training needs, industry standards, and the objectives of the Center for Biofabrication and Advanced Manufacturing.
- Demonstrates teaching effectiveness through the development, modification, and evaluation of program curricula and instructional materials that comply with established course content, integrate theory with practical applications, clearly define course goals, observe program and institutional accreditation standards, promote critical thinking, technical skills, and problem-solving, and respond to diverse academic and workforce needs with the Center’s objectives.
- Maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their academic and career development needs and advises individuals or groups of students in academic matters relevant to advanced manufacturing. Exercises professional judgment in referring students to appropriate personnel.
- Supervises student learning activities and academic progress, maintaining accurate records of student progress and accomplishments. Consults with and interprets these records for students and provides timely feedback to support their learning and development in the biofabrication and advanced manufacturing fields. Provides guidance to prepare students for careers in manufacturing and related industries.
- Assists with the selection, placement, and follow-up of students, facilitating connections with industry partners to enhance career readiness, internship opportunities, and workforce placement in the advanced manufacturing field fostering industry collaboration to support student outcomes.
- Coordinates departmental activities and operations by meeting with executive and advisory groups to discuss program needs, career developments, and the effectiveness of instruction. Develops and evaluates credit and non-credit programs and/or courses, mentoring faculty in subject area competency and instructional expertise, actively cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships with business and industry in advanced manufacturing and engaging in outreach to educational partners for the development and implementation of articulation initiatives.
- Encourages interdisciplinary engagement by collaborating with faculty across disciplines within the Center for Biofabrication and Advanced Manufacturing and across the college, ensuring the integration of advanced manufacturing curriculum with fields such as engineering, materials science, and other related areas to provide a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary educational experience that prepares students for a wide range of career opportunities in advanced manufacturing and biofabrication.
- Assists in the planning, development, and implementation of college-sponsored recruitment and retention activities, including career and job fairs, student orientations, registrations, and award ceremonies, and/or advising student activity groups, as assigned, with a focus on promoting the Center’s initiatives and enhancing student engagement.
