The Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission is seeking a bi-lingual (Spanish) Office Assistant for our Chicago Office.

Position Overview

Under direction of the Information Supervisor, performs a variety of complex information and assistant duties; receives and responds to telephone inquiries to the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission and provides informational assistances to the public, attorneys and other interested parties regarding the Rules and Administrative procedures of the Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Diseases Acts; answers questions regarding the status of cases pending at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission and performs a variety of clerical support functions.

Essential Functions

  • Answers telephone inquiries from injured workers, employers, attorneys and insurance companies regarding the Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Diseases Act.
  • Using judgment, assists unrepresented plaintiffs, attorneys, paralegals and general public.
  • Answers questions regarding status of workers compensation cases filed/pending at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission.
  • Accesses computer program to order settlement contract files stored at various locations.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and one year of related office experience.
  • Requires the ability to speak and write in Spanish at a colloquial skill level.  

 Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
