About the role

Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving will implement fundraising programs to expand and sustain CSULB's base of annual philanthropic support. This role will build and manage a relationship-based pipeline of alumni, parents, and friends. The Assistant Director will utilize segmentation strategies to solicit annual fund donors through a cadre of engagement methods including but not limited to crowdfunding, digital giving initiatives like Giving Tuesday and Beach Spring Day of Giving, direct mail and e-solicitations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under the Direction of the Director of Annual Giving, execute all aspects of the annual solicitations this includes direct mail, e-giving, digital giving, crowdfunding and other annual giving mechanisms to increase funding, broaden support of constituency audiences and enhance the prospect pipeline.
  • Identify and implement new programs and approaches. These opportunities will include, but are not limited to, senior class giving, parent giving, employee giving, and student philanthropy.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate possesses strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, along with exceptional writing and communication abilities. They demonstrate knowledge of fundraising best practices and are comfortable using or learning tools such as Ellucian's Advance WEB CRM, digital giving platforms, and email marketing tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, is preferred. The candidate should also have excellent interpersonal skills and the professionalism to engage effectively with alumni, parents, faculty, students, and university administrators on a daily basis.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college and three years of related experience required. Preferred experience in sales and/or marketing.

Physical Summary

  • Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,598 - $6,250 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,598 - $8,318 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
