Technical Agronomy Intern (91388)

Contract Duration: 4 - 6 months (Summer)    

Location: Peace River, AB 

Wage:  $22hr – $29hr

 

BASF's Intern Program was created to provide highly motivated, mobile-minded current university and college students an opportunity to enhance their professional skills through a variety of diverse learning experiences. This internship allows interns to contribute to real-world business needs, while exploring career options and developing technical and professional decision-making skills. Interns will have the opportunity to assess their capabilities, skills, and interests and gain valuable exposure to BASF's culture, values, and decision-makers.

 

Program Summary

 

 

  • We offer students the opportunity to contribute to real-world assignments. This program also offers undergraduate students the ability to apply their education and background to challenging assignments to build both technical and professional skills. 
  • As a highly motivated undergraduate student, you will participate in a 4 – 6-month internship located within Canada. 
  • Enhanced career development and value delivery to BASF.  Throughout the internship, BASF will host learning events for personal and professional development and an opportunity to explore possible career tracks within the company.
  • Successfully engaging across the business throughout your internship will expand your network, allow you to grow personally and professionally, and learn a variety of valuable skill sets.
  • All interns will be assessed throughout the summer for either a returning internship offer, or a full time offer for one of our Professional Development Rotational programs.

Formula for Success: You Will…

 

 

  • Organize and help manage a variety of large-scale trials including canola hybrids (InVigor Demonstration Strip Trials), seed treatment, fungicide and herbicide trials with Growers. This Involves activities such as seeding, spraying and harvest operations with the InVigor Demonstration Strip Trial program.
  • Conduct evaluations throughout the season including but not limited to: Plant vigor, plant count measurement in the InVigor Demonstration Strip Trials.
  • Conduct efficacy assessments with Seed Treatment, Herbicide and Fungicide trials.
  • Take part in and help set up customer tours and presentations.
  • Operation of ATV and pull behind sprayer.
  • Responsible for transportation of equipment from site to site.
  • Complete and Present on a Demand Creation/Research project before peers and senior leaders within BASF.
  • Professional and direct interaction with grower and retail stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to safety. 

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

 

 

  • Currently Enrolled in an agriculture science or related degree program.
  • Interested in agronomy.
  • High level of enthusiasm and strong communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to learn and gain experience in agronomy.
  • Mobility to travel within your assigned region, manage your own schedule and work independently in pursuit of team goals.
  • Valid drivers’ license required.
  • Experience with the operation of farm equipment and sprayers is an asset.
