About the role

This Preventative Quality Engineer follows the Lessons Learned (LL) processes in an effort to conduct root cause analysis and more importantly systemic corrective actions tied to safety and regulatory recalls all within a defined closure timing with exceptional detail to the depth and quality of the LL. The role requires strong technical acumen, cross-functional leadership, and a issue ownership can do mind set.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of 3-Legged 5 Why Analysis for recall-related issues with deep root cause identification.
  • Collaborate with responsible functional teams (e.g., design, manufacturing, supplier quality) to gather data, challenge assumptions, and guide them through structured problem-solving.
  • Coach and mentor stakeholders on effective root cause analysis techniques, corrective action planning, and read-across strategies—even without direct authority.
  • Ensure each leg of the 5 Why is supported by evidence-based analysis, with clearly defined corrective actions that address the true root causes.
  • Monitor progress and quality of LL development, ensuring timely completion and alignment with internal standards and regulatory expectations (e.g., FMVSS, EU ECE).
  • Validate that corrective actions are systemic and sustainable, with appropriate read-across to future programs to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare LL documentation for senior-level closure meetings, ensuring clarity, completeness, and executive-level readiness.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering 
  • 1+ years of experience in Engineering, Supplier Quality, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Proficiency in structured root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and other core automotive quality tools
  • Ability to interpret technical data, failure modes, and systemic process gaps
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills to guide cross-functional teams through LL development
  • Ability to influence and lead teams without direct authority
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex issues into executive-level summaries
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality, timely results in a fast paced global environment
