We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Controller - ASPEX Mfg, you will lead the Finance function for the Alcon Manufacturing Plant. You will oversee financial reporting; planning and analysis; capital appropriation request preparation; and internal control for the plant. Ensure compliance to all company policies and advise plant management on financial strategies. As a member of the Site Leadership Team, contribute to establishing and accomplishing facility and divisional goals.

In this role, a typical day will include:

Direction Setting/Strategy:

  • Represent the financial function in strategy setting; provide direction for growth of the organization.
  • Contribute to development of annual site strategic plan to meet short term and long term business objectives.
  • Monitor costs, identify variances, and facilitate initiation of corrective actions to meet business goals.
  • Conduct business in accordance with what we valueand in complia nce with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Finance Technical responsibilities:

  • Provide financial leadership for the manufacturing site to achieve business goals.
  • Work with the GM and site management team to develop and achieve long term financial objectives; support business decisions requiring a financial/business assessment.
  • Actively manage risks and opportunities to ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Develop, implement and oversee annual budget process for Manufacturing & Quality.
  • Formulate capital expenditure plan to support the plant’s strategic and operational capital investment requirements.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity and analysis of financial reporting is maintained in accordance with IAS and Alcon Accounting Manual.
  • Establish accurate standard costs and inventory valuation for Manufacturing.
  • Ensure uncompromising integrity, clear and timely internal controls and financial compliance process.
  • Legal Entity Compliance & External relationships.
  • Ensure tax & statutory compliance for the legal entity.
  • Contract reviews, leases, etc.
  • Position finance as an effective and valued business partner within the organization.
  • Responsible for External Supply Organization Financials, as determined by the organization.

Team:

  • Develop and implement succession plans to develop a talent pipeline for the site, and for the company.
  • Ensure associates receive training and development to acquire knowledge, skills and experiences required for the current and future success of the business.

Interfaces:

  • Coordinate pro-actively with other facilities and division functions to ensure appropriate levels of involvement, guidance, and direction.
  • Partner with operations to drive continuous productivity improvement focusing both on cost reduction and inventory optimization.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Corporate Engineering, QA, and MS&T to successfully implement engineering projects.
  • Coordinate with MS&T to validate equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Coordinate with Research and Development to transfer technologies required for new and improved products.

Safety:

  • Ensure that facilities align with HSE standards at all levels of the organization and remain audit-ready.
  • Ensure associates have tools and equipment needed to perform their jobs safely and effectively.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
  • 10 Years of Relevant Experience
  • 6 Years of Demonstrated Leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing plant (preferred)
  • Ability to work well in and manage a team, ability to develop and empower staff of different skill levels directly & indirectly.
  • Flexibility to respond to a constantly evolving business environment.
  • Ability to remain impartial and handle critical / confidential information.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, and accounting software, SAP experience a +.
  • Good knowledge of Manufacturing/Engineering and other departmental proces
