Sutphen is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our growing team in Urbana, Ohio. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our growing team in Urbana, Ohio. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems in our custom-built fire apparatus. You will work closely with mechanical engineers, technicians, and production staff to ensure our vehicles meet stringent quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Essential Job Functions

  • Design functional, reliable & cost effective electrical systems that meet all applicable FMVSS & NFPA standards.
  • Assume responsibility for new option design integration & complete electrical configuration of firefighting apparatus.
  • Assume accountability for accuracy of projects & designs that affect the electrical systems.
  • Work with vendors on manufacturing & quality related issues.
  • Support Parts & Service with electrically related field service problems or concerns.
  • Work with Parts & Service to identify & fix any ongoing field service issues.
  • Support the shop floor with direction on electrically related questions.
  • Create engineering drawings, layouts & schematics using 2D/3D computer aided drafting tools.
  • Maintain a neat, organized & professional work environment.
  • Operate & conduct business activities with safety first.
  • Accountable to deadlines.
  • Support a positive work atmosphere through professional & effective communication with co-workers, customers, business partners & management.
