JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Penn State University is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to join the Galaxy Team. This role is crucial for managing the logistics, coordination, and financial aspects of our nationally and internationally renowned projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Logistics Management:
Schedule and organize all lab meetings, including those for the PSU team and joint meetings with partners at JHU, Germany, Australia, and other Galaxy sites.
Coordinate face-to-face events on a national and international level. Actively participate in the organization of the annual Galaxy Community Conference.
Plan and coordinate events with European and Australian counterparts. Manage and update galaxyproject.org
Ensure synchronization of software releases with outreach activities.
Coordinate teleconferences among US, EU, and Australian counterparts.
External Funding Management:
Manage accounts of existing federally funded projects.
Actively participate in the preparation of new proposals.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Coordinate interaction with sub-awards.
Manage financial aspects of multiple funding awards.
Process SIMBA financial transactions.
Approve financial documents, pcard reports, and shopping carts
according to PSU policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Approve subcontracts.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in project management, preferably in an academic or
research environment.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Experience with managing large-scale, multi-site projects.
Familiarity with financial management, particularly in the context of
federally funded projects.
Ability to work collaboratively with national and international teams.
Proficiency in using relevant project management and financial software.
