Job Description
You will be a part of seasoned, highly-qualified team that performs Geotechnical and Materials Engineering, Construction Materials Testing (CMT), ICC Special Inspections, and Construction Inspections of some of the most complex and transformational infrastructure and industrial projects in our region. You will have an opportunity to be a part of advanced manufacturing, mission critical, DOT, and enormous federal projects in West Texas. Additionally, we operate as a close-knit team and will make sure your input is valued as we win and deliver these transformational projects.
Core Responsibilities
- Performs construction-related field testing and inspections as directed by the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Manager and Senior Engineer.
- Travels to various construction sites primarily throughout the West Texas area with the potential likely for overnight and/or weekend work as needed.
- Performs field soil and Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA) density testing using a nuclear density gauge and maintains proper handling procedures in accordance with radiation safety and HAZMAT requirements.
- Performs field quality control testing of in-place concrete, including sampling and testing procedures.
- Relays information to project manager and/or engineer, with limited in-field decision making.
- Transports equipment, test specimens, and documentation to field personnel, laboratory staff, clients, or other offices.
- Provides assistance with equipment setup and testing preparation at project sites.
- Enters daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically.
- Assists other technicians and professional staff with tasks and supports other departments as necessary.
- Follows Atlas safety plans, programs, policies, and procedures.
- Performs IBC Chapter 17 Special Inspections of Reinforced Concrete, Soils, Structural Masonry, Fireproofing, Firestopping, Structural Steel and Bolting, Welding, as applicable.
- Supports projects from proposal through completion to ensure scope, schedule, budget and quality objectives are met
- Maintains communication with clients, contractors, and senior staff as needed
- Directs, where necessary, various activities at projects sites
- Other duties as assigned
