Specialty Therapy Coordinator - Speech

We are searching for a Specialty Therapy Coordinator (Speech Language Pathology) to demonstrate clinical expertise in the physical and educational aspects of specialty therapy program for the pediatric, adolescent and/or adult patient population and their families as outlined in the scope of service. The Therapy Specialty Coordinator works interdependently with and independently of the multi-disciplinary team. Scope of practice will include practitioner, educator, researcher and change agent. The Therapy Specialty Coordinator is dedicated to promoting optimal patient/family care with the ultimate goal of enhanced patient/family outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or related degree
• Corresponding License in Texas: Speech Language Pathology
• Cert-Speech Language Pathology through American Speech Language Hearing Association.
• 8 yrs of Speech Language Therapy Experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous management, supervisory, or coordinator experience
• Previous role as an Advanced Clinical Specialist or equivalent.
• Advanced skills in management of pediatric dysphagia and airway disorders, including imaging studies such as video fluoroscopy and FEES
•  Strong understanding of progression of oral feeding development from newborn to transitional feeders
• Able to collaborate and effectively communicate with members of medical team
• Involvement in mentoring/training to support development of staff members

Responsibilities:

• Serves as an advanced clinical practitioner. 
• Collaborates with the health care team to assist in the planning, implementing and evaluating of treatment approach utilizing clinical knowledge, sound judgment and problem-solving. 
• Acts as a clinical resource and mentor to staff and other members of the health care team.
• Maintains clinical skills by providing direct patient care and related activities. 
• Performs patient care and related activities within the scope of their training and responsibilities (demonstrating advanced clinical competencies in their area of expertise) 
• Participates in ongoing communication and collaboration with other members of the patient’s interdisciplinary care team.
• Conducts research and development activities for Specialty Services. 
• Consistently applies new knowledge relevant to pediatric, adolescent and/or adult Specialty to clinical practice
• Advises and assists in maintaining Joint Commission requirements in all policies, procedures and standards of care for the Specialty Program
