Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Specialist, Talent Acquisition & Employee Relations. The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills and a solutions-oriented approach, working closely with search committees, supervisors, and employees to ensure effective human resources practices. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.

 

The role requires knowledge of employment laws, collective bargaining agreements, and institutional policies to provide sound guidance on recruitment, performance management, and workplace conduct.

Responsibilities include advising on classified and faculty searches, conducting candidate sourcing, recommending outreach strategies, and guiding search committees through search processes. By delivering training, career support, and technical guidance, the specialist ensures standardized and transparent recruitment practices that enhance the employer brand. This position engages on HR social media platform/s and works with others to produce content and promote our Facebook site.

 

In addition to recruitment, the position provides support for classified employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary processes. The specialist advises supervisors on compliance with state and federal regulations, the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC), University policies, and collective bargaining agreements to guide decision-making.

 

Required Qualifications

High School Graduation and four (4) years of related work experience.

Associate’s Degree and three (3) years of related work experience.

Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience.

Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience.

Related Experience: Experience in human resources, talent acquisition, employee relations, or business administration; experience with performance management, recruitment/sourcing/outreach, and/or providing consultative HR support to supervisors or related.

 

Compensation Grade

Comp Grade B

Salary Range ($60,000 - $82,000)
