About the role

Description

About Minute Media Plus:

Minute Media is a global sports media and technology leader, powering content and video solutions for publishers and fans alike. Our portfolio includes iconic brands such as Sports Illustrated, 90min, and FanSided, through which we reach passionate audiences around the world.

Minute Media Plus (MM+) is Minute Media's B2B ad-tech business, providing a portfolio of monetization products to external publishers worldwide. Our products — the MM+STN co-branded video player, the Minute Media SSP, and our Unified Display Solution — power advertising and content experiences across hundreds of publisher sites globally. Data sits at the heart of how we operate: from publisher revenue reporting and finance billing to real-time performance monitoring and strategic commercial decision-making.

The Role

We're looking for a Data Team Lead to serve as the strategic data partner for the entire MM+ B2B portfolio. This is a high-ownership role that combines people leadership with deep commercial and technical accountability.

You'll manage and develop a team of 3–4 analysts while acting as the principal data voice across the business — partnering closely with Business, Finance, Product, and Technology to shape priorities, drive decisions, and ensure the data infrastructure underpinning MM+'s publisher ecosystem is trusted, scalable, and always-on.

You will own complex data infrastructure, drive analytical workstreams, and be the person the business turns to when the hard data questions need answering.

Location & work model: This is a hybrid role based in our New York office.

Work authorization: Candidates must already hold valid US work authorization. Minute Media does not provide visa sponsorship now or in the future.

What You'll Do

Strategic Business Partnership:

  • Serve as the primary data partner to the Head of B2B and senior stakeholders across Technology, Product, and Finance — shaping prioritisation and business strategy with data-driven insight
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across the B2B organization, translating ambiguous commercial questions into well-defined analytical workstream.
  • Represent the data function in business planning, quarterly reviews, and cross-functional initiatives
  • Own the data that external publishers access through the Voltax platform — ensuring they receive clean, accurate, and timely data they can trust to run their business
  • Go beyond reporting — design and build data products that actively help the business make better decisions, faster. Partner with the B2B and Account Management teams to identify where data can proactively surface opportunities or risks — and then build the tools that make those insights accessible and actionable in day-to-day operations.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 3–4 data analysts, fostering a high-performance culture built on ownership, curiosity, and craft
  • Set clear team priorities aligned to business impact, balancing urgent delivery with long-term capability building
  • Set the vision for how the team moves from reactive reporting to proactive insight delivery, and lead its execution

Data Infrastructure & Governance

  • Own the MM+ Single Source of Truth (SSOT) pipeline — the core infrastructure powering publisher reporting, external dashboards, and finance billing
  • Oversee complex SQL development and ETL pipeline management, ensuring production-grade reliability, integrity, and observability across the B2B data stack
  • Lead the team's adoption of AI agents and LLM-powered workflows — from automated monitoring and anomaly detection to accelerating analysis and reducing manual toil — and set the vision for how AI augments the team's capabilities
  • Define and own data quality standards, driving a proactive approach to monitoring and incident response

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the embedded data partner for Product and Engineering, ensuring new features, integrations, and publisher deals are reflected accurately and promptly in the data stack
  • Translate product and commercial changes — new deal structures, new publisher onboarding, updated revenue share models — into reliable data logic and downstream reporting
  • Own the data layer that powers publisher revenue reporting, locked spend reconciliation, and finance billing — ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full auditability
  • Partner closely with the Finance team on monthly close proc
