Job Role Summary

Responsible for registering and checking in Bell Flower Clinic patients by accurately verifying information, reviewing and organizing required documentation, and ensuring patient records are complete and ready for clinical services.

Essential Duties

  • Utilizes appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
  • Greets patients at registration window and obtain completed registration forms and ID from clients.
  • Registers patients into the electronic medical record system, updating demographics, consent authorizations, and other patient information.
  • Create visit encounters and collect all applicable fees that relate to visit.
  • Completes and verifies fees collected at the end of the day, and secures payments in designated safe.
  • Scan registration forms, IDs, referral forms and all other applicable documents into the document management application.
  • Assist other departments when assigned.
  • Participates in public health emergency preparedness exercises and in response to public health emergencies, as directed.
  • Participates in a minimum of two Health Outreach & Promotional Events (H.O.P.E.) totaling a minimum of eight hours annually.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; one (1) to three (3) years of related experience in a healthcare, public health, or administrative support role; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience working in a public health department, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), or community health clinic setting is desirable. Bilingual or multicultural customer service experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Working Environment

  • Standard medical office environment.
  • Exposure to communicable disease, illness and combative patients.
  • Some physical effort associated with carrying of supplies for health fairs and handling clinic supplies
