About the role

JOB SUMMARY: As a key advisor to site leaders, you will play a pivotal role in driving HR initiatives, managing employee relations, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and regulations. Your expertise will contribute to strengthening HR capabilities, supporting change initiatives, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture. This role requires on-site presence at the Wichita office three days per week and offers an opportunity to work closely with the HR Business Partner and Leadership team on both daily operations and strategic projects.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong HR background, including at least four years of experience, and thrive in a fast-paced, corporate environment. Demonstrating initiative, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture are essential to success in this role.

DEPARTMENT: Human Resources (NORC People)

The NORC People department supports NORC's mission and values by collaborating with research, operations, and administrative departments to recruit, develop, and retain top staff. Because NORC is a government contractor, the NORC People team plays a large role ensuring that all staff information and systems remain secure and that our organization is fully compliant with our policies. NORC People is responsible for talent acquisition, hiring, benefits administration, employee relations matters, and performance evaluation programs to ensure our organization is maintaining compliance while keeping employees’ best interests in mind.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leverage your HR expertise to provide guidance and support to HR Business partners in handling complex HR issues, policy interpretation, and HR best practices.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations matters, conduct investigations and promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, ensuring they are consistent with legal requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for employees and managers on HR-related topics, including diversity and inclusion, performance management, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR leadership on strategic initiatives such as talent development, succession planning, and organizational change management.
  • Analyze HR data to identify trends, provide insights, and make recommendations for process improvements and HR strategy adjustments.
  • Actively participate in change management initiatives, ensuring effective implementation and buy-in within the location.
  • Support HR BPs in day-to-day HR operations, including talent acquisition, onboarding, and offboarding.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Identify potential gaps in team structure and capabilities at the site level.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • Three years of human resource experience preferred in a fast-paced environment with a focus on employee relations and handling complex HR issues.
  • Knowledge of ADP and Microsoft or other HRIS systems a plus
  • Familiarity with HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate HR teams effectively.
  • Understanding of performance review processes and employee development.
  • Knowledge of local employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in HR data entry and maintaining accurate records.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with employees and management.
