Overview of Role

66degrees is seeking a VP, Director of Data Science AI/ML who is passionate in playing a central role in setting the AI/ML strategy at 66 degrees and for leading the delivery of advanced analytical data solutions for our clients on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will be responsible for growing and managing a team of data scientists as well as leading our go-to-market strategy for AI/ML including our Generative AI strategy.  The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of hands-on experience implementing enterprise class AI/ML solutions both on-prem and in the Cloud and has a strong background in advanced data analytics, smart data platforms and traditional data science disciplines.

Responsibilities

Our ideal candidate will understand the value of teamwork and is someone that thrives on using technology and data science to create transformative solutions for our clients. As we continue to grow our AI/ML practice, this role will be expected to lead our AI/ML strategy as well as provide direct contributions to delivery excellence with our clients, including and managing high trust client relationships and our AI/ML partnerships with Google. 

We are based in Chicago, Illinois and also have offices in Denver, Colorado and Orlando, Florida. Remote candidates should not hesitate applying.

A 66degrees Director of Data Science responsibilities and duties are as follows: 

• Interfaces with the Executive Leadership Team and other senior leadership to identify innovative technology solutions that provide a competitive advantage for 66degrees and ensure the company meets its corporate objectives.
• Participates in driving strategy, practice direction as part of the GCP leadership team, strategic planning, offering development, and enterprise solutions architecture.
• Provides oversight and management of geographically distributed data science team, with expectations that the team will be coached to be considered by Google and our clients as industry thought leaders in the DS AI/ML space. 
• Develop and codify best practices for your team that can be replicated across multiple customer engagements.
• Partner with your team to develop services and offerings that scale and are repeatable, and work with our Sales GTM team to design and deliver GTM DS AI/ML solution frameworks.
• Participate in key technical and design discussions with technical leads as a hands-on manager.
• This position is remote and travel may be required, on average up to 10%-15%, depending on business needs when normal travel practices resume.

Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or related quantitative field
• 10 + years of hands- on experience with Data Science AI/ML, practical and consultative experience, with 5+ years leading teams.
• Experience building and implementing  Data Science AI/ML Cloud Strategies.
• Strong understanding of Public Cloud Data Science Platforms/Capabilities (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Strategic mindset- ability to support the growth and brand of Data Science as well as help lead in the sale of initiative thought leadership and as an executing contributor within 66degrees.
• Experience implementing Model Ops, which is reflective of enterprise production applications of AI/ML solutions and change management.
• Experience leading a team while developing best practices, services, and offerings that scale and are repeatable.
• Experience providing consultative services to customers on the benefits of an advanced data science practice.
• Strong presentation skills that include being able to build presentations that articulate the outcomes of an AI/ML program, the business impact of the models, and a path to productionalization/commercialization of the models. 
• Knowledge of trends and tools in data and ML version management.
• Knowledge of trends and tools in ML observability.
• Experience developing Machine Learning models and using Deep Learning frameworks like Tensorflow, Keras, and PyTorch.
• Ability to communicate complex, technical processes to non-technical business stakeholders.
