Manufacturing Estimator

Your Contribution

• Provide guidelines and assistance to others in the quote request process Based on customer provided data (models, drawings, PowerPoints) develop an understanding of the manufacturing methods and material required to produce the product.
• Develop planning methods and time estimates on complex machined components for various optical component systems.
• Interpret quoting specifications supplied, including filling in missing information with an educated guess or reviewing/returning the quote to its originator with questions, work with sales, production and quality departments to obtain information to provide accurate quotes and lead times.
• Determine a production process for the project, including print layouts, calculate the required materials, including packaging sizes if not specified
• Obtain and analyze bids on projects from material vendors and subcontractors for services that the company does not do (or not efficiently) in-house
• Assemble the costs and information needed to supply an Estimate of Costs to management, who in turn, add the margin which determines the selling price. Refine assumptions on estimates
• Provide accurate, timely estimates to requesting departmental areas.  When necessary, write a note of explanation of estimate specifics (especially when the estimate and estimate request are outside normally assumed parameters)

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s of Science in Supply Chain, Business or equivalent work experience
• 3-5 years relevant work experience
• Working knowledge of Business Management software, Computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Excel, etc.) / excellent communication skills / ability to work under time pressure and handle dead-lines / Detail oriented / Basic understanding of manufacturing / Ability to work independently or as part of a team / Experience as a CNC Engineer, Estimator and or Machinist highly desirable.
