Overview of Position
The Senior Content Specialist is responsible for supporting the development of multimedia content for OPTAVIA’s consumer audiences to increase brand awareness, foster brand love, and meet the company’s business objectives. This role involves researching, writing, and editing content for a variety of materials, including websites, blogs, social media, email campaigns, and more. The ideal candidate is an experienced content creator and strategist who excels in project management, creative thinking, and can be a champion for change, continuously innovating to simplify processes and evolve brand perception.

The global obesity crisis continues to impact people of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds, and now with the advancement in innovative medical solutions, there is greater consumer and commercial interest in health and wellness than ever before.
Adoption of medically supported weight loss solutions has accelerated rapidly but many consumers are struggling to understand the role that medication can play in supporting long-term health. We believe weight loss medications alone are not a silver bullet, but when paired with lifestyle changes, clinician care and foundational drivers of wellbeing, including nutrition and exercise, it can play an important role in addressing significant health challenges faced by people around the world.
This person will have the opportunity to support tactical execution as we transform OPTAVIA in this dynamic landscape.
II. Job Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the content calendar.
• Own detailed workback schedules.
• Track milestones, deadlines, and dependencies to ensure timely delivery of content that is accurate, compliant, and approved by all parties. - Support the development of high-quality, compelling content by for websites, email campaigns, blogs, social media, and other digital platforms.
• Write clear, concise, and compelling copy that aligns with the brand voice and style guidelines and maintains high standards of accuracy, grammar, and overall quality.
• Approach storytelling opportunities journalistically, asking informed questions to understand how initiatives intersect with the company’s mission.
• Contribute to brainstorms and suggest new ideas based on best practices, peer reviews, and cultural trends.
• Collaborate with creative team of designers, videographers, and other team members to create multimedia content. - Monitor content performance to track current and inform future content plans.
• Build measurement mechanism and process.
• Report on content metrics and KPIs, presenting insights and strategies to senior manager. - Work cross-functionally to build cohesive and integrated content across all platforms and multiple audiences, repurposing content to drive efficiency and brand consistency.
- Serve as a company-wide steward of the brand, supporting copyediting and proofing as needed.
III. Scope
The Senior Content Specialist reports to the Senior Manager of Content Strategy and Field Communication and is an individual contributor with no direct reports. This role is based in Baltimore HQ and is hybrid.
IV. Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related area.
- Minimum of five years’ related experience
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong portfolio of work.
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with team leaders and peers.
