We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Construction to lead and oversee all aspects of our construction operations. This pivotal role will manage a diverse team, including project managers, installation crews, and office personnel, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in industrial/commercial construction, both as a general contractor and subcontractor, and possess strong leadership and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a group of project managers overseeing multiple projects.
- Supervise and coordinate company installation crews, ensuring high-quality work and safety compliance.
- Oversee and manage office personnel to support project and company operations.
- Financial Oversight
- Take full ownership of the division’s Profit & Loss (P&L) performance.
- Monitor budgets, expenditures, and financial forecasts to maintain profitability.
- Technical Expertise
- Review, interpret, and work from blueprints and technical drawings.
- Utilize construction estimating knowledge to assist in bid preparation and cost management.
- Ensure projects adhere to industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Operational Excellence
- Oversee construction projects from inception to completion.
- Operate effectively as a general contractor, subcontractor or both, navigating diverse project roles and scopes.
- Lead and run bi-lingual construction crews, fostering clear communication and an inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior construction management role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, including project managers, field crews, and office staff.
- Strong understanding of P&L management and financial acumen in a construction environment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction plans.
- Solid understanding of construction estimating and bidding processes.
- Experience working as both a general contractor and subcontractor.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is a strong plus.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with construction management software.
- Proven track record of successfully managing bi-lingual teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
