This is work of a responsible nature which involves support of, and sharing with the Transportation Assistant, scheduling and bus routing duties using a sophisticated network transportation system in a Windows NT environment; answering and following up complaints concerning the transportation services as well as clerical support as needed. Does related work as required.
Duties:
- Process transportation applications involving data entry, determining eligibility, bus route and bus stop assignment, notification to parent, bus company, and school
- Make adjustments to bus stops, runs, routes, and driver directions for special education students using complex transportation software modules
- Order, distribute, sell, and collect monies for deposit for student bus tokens and track in computerized database files
- Print mail merge form letters for mass mailing to parents at various times during the year
- Prepare purchase orders for department supplies and equipment; maintain purchase order file, verify orders received, track supplies and equipment in a database file
- Update contractor expense in a database file and print monthly reports
- Update bus driver, monitor, and vehicle information in a database file and print monthly reports
- Answer complaints from the general public, school district personnel, parents of school children etc. and follows up same.
- Send memos ad bus drill forms to principals and headmasters and track completion dates in computerized database files
Requirements
Key Skills and Abilities:
Ability to learn laws, regulations, standards and safety practices applicable to the transportation of school children; ability to organize, maintain, and refine manual and computerized information; ability to prepare moderately complex computer reports; ability to handle office details independently; ability to carry out complex oral and written directions; good judgement in dealing with the public; initiative; accuracy; thorough knowledge of the English language and business arithmetic; tact and courtesy; neatness of appearance and physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
