Senior Director Grid Strategy, Grants Management

Job Summary:

The Sr. Director of Grid Strategy Grants Management will be responsible for developing and executing grants management strategies, building partnerships, and advocating for initiatives that benefit both the company and the communities we serve. This role manages and leads managers and acts as a mentor ensuring their managers implement company policies, procedures and initiatives correctly. This role identifies and prevents situations and corrects them to make the operation more efficient and safer. Also deal with budgets to ensure the organization or department meets financial goals.

Job Description:

• Identifies gaps, assesses current state, and develops plans for new solutions to better meet the objectives of the recovery partner, including those at the federal, territorial, and local level to ensure alignment with LUMA goals.  

• Develops and implements a comprehensive grants applications and formulation strategy that supports restoration of the grid. 

• Incorporates and executes processes and procedures that foster excellence and credibility and thereby create trust and promote collaboration with our grant partners.

• Builds and maintains strong relationships with grants partner agency officials and other stakeholders.

• Develops and executes the processes and procedures necessary to ensure knowledgeable and credible representation for the company at public hearings, meeting, and conferences. 

• Advocates for policies and initiatives that support the company’s goals and objectives.

• Leads and mentors a team of grants management professionals, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and professional growth.

• Coordinates with internal teams to ensure alignment on grants management priorities, strategies, engagement, processes and procedures.

• Monitors grants developments and government actions.

• Oversees preparation of regular reports and briefs for senior leadership on relevant grants trends and issues.

• Performs major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.

• Follows all policies and procedures.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

• Bachelor's degree: in Political Science, Public Policy, Law or Engineering, preferably in Power Engineering or Civil Engineering, with material electric utility and grants management experience.  Advanced degree preferred.

• Minimum of 11 years of experience in grants management or a related field, including 5 years of experience in a senior leadership and supervisory role.

• Strong experience, expertise and understanding of grants and grants management processes, particularly with respect to Section 406 Hazard Mitigation and electric utility grid projects.

• Proven track record of successful advocacy and relationship-building with grants agency officials and stakeholders.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and persuasively.

• Fluent in Spanish and English with the ability to read, write and speak.

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate complex grants requirements and alternatives and their implications for the organization.

• Experience in team leadership and staff development.

• Highest ethical standards and a commitment to the organization’s values and mission.

• Extensive knowledge of federal funding and grant application processes.

  

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: 

• Valid Driver’s License

• Emergency management/grants certification and classes preferred.
