OVERVIEW
Caribou Thunder is seeking a motivated Systems Engineer – Distributed Simulation & Testing
(Level 2 or 3) to join our team with hands-on Integration & Test experience to support distributed simulation and training programs in Orlando, Florida. This role supports the Federation Integration and Testing program for the U.S. Air Force Combat Air Force Distributed Mission Operations Network (CAF DMON).
REQUIREMENTS
In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of enhancing distributed simulation capabilities, integrating U.S. Air Force weapon system simulators and operational sites into the DMON network. Your work will directly support realistic and effective mission training for U.S. and allied aircrews. Understanding modern air combat environments and related systems is essential. This includes experience in the cockpit or command environment with aircraft, C2 platforms, or other air combat support elements.
1. Integrate and test USAF simulator systems within the DMON network.
2. Analyze and resolve technical issues, especially real-time troubleshooting during live simulation events.
3. Perform full systems engineering lifecycle activities including planning, integration, validation, and verification.
4. Generate system documentation: test plans, procedures, reports, and issue tracking.
5. Interface with contractors, stakeholders, and DoD personnel to support system acceptance and interoperability.
6. Support technical interchange meetings, integration events, and simulator site acceptance.
7. Occasionally work outside standard hours to support integration and testing across global time zones
QUALIFICATIONS
Level 2:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Modeling & Simulation, or Computer Science and 2+ years of experience, OR a Master’s degree with 0 years of experience
2. Rated operational experience within the past 7 years from USAF, USN, USMC, or USA (e.g., fighter/bomber pilot, special operations, AWACS controller, JTAC, etc.)
3. Flexibility to support non-standard work hours during critical testing periods.
4. Persuasive communication skills and the ability to produce technical documents and briefing materials.
5. Demonstrated problem-solving skills in complex, real-time environments.
